Week 2 of a Month of Health

My first week has come and gone in my focus on 1 Month of health. How did I do, you ask? Eh.

healthy week 2

Let’s remember my 5 very basic health goals.

  • sugar free (meaning keeping all sugars to around 15 g daily)
  • T-Tapp daily (this makes all the difference in pain and range of motion)
  • vitamins daily
  • 64 oz minimum of water daily
  • 30-45 minutes in the Word each day

Well… confession time. I was sugar free for 3 1/2 days and then was over by about 40 grams of sugar each day. Not so great. But, to be fair, it was at the end of our paycheck and we didn’t have as many healthy food choices as I needed. So, more berries this week and I’ll get some super dark chocolate for those Must Have Chocolate days.

T-Tapp –  well, I worked out 3 days and then I bombed out. But “the righteous man falls 7 times and rises again.” So, I’m starting fresh tomorrow (“every days is fresh with no mistakes in it” – can you tell what I’ve been watching this week?) with prayer to T-Tapp each morning before I get going with my day. Once I go downstairs, it just will not get done! My shoulders were beginning to feel a little better but today I’m back to not so great.

Vitamins – this has been good. Fortunately, I can take vitamins anytime during the day, and I usually remember as I’m preparing meals for the family. I did miss one day, but 6 is way better than none!

Water has also been good. There was one day that I am not even sure if I drank anything all day. What am I, crazy??? But the rest of the week, I filled up my 28 oz cup 3 times throughout the day. Phew!

The Word – this has also not been so great. I’m in the Word daily, but not the 30-45 minutes I need to really let the Spirit wash over me and keep my heart centered and mind centered. So, bumping up from 15-20 minutes to 30 minutes daily this week. Hoping to end with 45 minutes each day by the end of the month.

Preparing for the coming week.

Cooking goals, I’m preparing for my meals so I don’t get stressed when I’m cooking differently for the rest of the family. If I have no plan, I start out with failing. Pressing on and pressing in!!:

  • to grill 3 chicken breasts, slice them and have them ready for lunches & suppers
  • have 2 kinds of lettuce/spinach torn and bagged for easy use
  • have carrots, celery, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower chopped, bagged & ready

Scripture goals, tonight I’m putting an open bible in the kitchen, in the upstairs bathroom (sounds strange but it’s where I hang out in the middle of the night when I’m having a Personal Summer event — it’s cooler and has a recliner), at my bedroom couch and in the living room. Yes, we have enough bibles for this. Sometimes I just plop somewhere for a bit. If there is an open bible there, it’s a great time to jump in!

I am not sharing my menu this week, but please check out my menu planning downloads for your own planning.

What are your health goals for the coming week?
