Another homeschooling year begins. This is our 23rd year of schooling and the first year since 1995 that I only school 3 children. My senior is technically finished with all her requirements for graduation but she is going to be doing an online photography course that will give her a certificate in photography. She is very excited and the course is very extensive.

Much of their work is done independently but there are still a few classes I teach together. I’ll have 1 high schooler, 1 middle schooler and 1 in elementary school. And we still are doing our schedule of 3 weeks on, 1 week off, 3 weeks vacation at  Christmas, June & July every other week and 3 weeks off in August. We actually end up doing a full school year’s worth of work in the Aug-May months so we have never been behind, even if we break more than expected.

What does YOUR school year look like with your children: homeschool, private school, public school?

  1. We will be starting in another week. I have three kiddos. One in 5th grade, one in 1st grade, and 1 in pre K/K. We are excited for the adventures we will have this year. I am especially excited for a new focus we will be adding in on missions and learning about the struggles people around the world face. 🙂

  2. Dear Kate,
Thank you for widening the scope of your link-up a bit. Still, if the one I add doesn’t seem to fit, please feel free to remove it. I thank you for all you do to encourage and edify women and mothers!
    Much love in Christ,

  3. Call me crazy, but your schedule makes me miss my homeschooling years! 3 have graduated homeschool and the last one entered the local high school (graduating class of 34 kids…so almost like homeschool), so I have an empty school room! Love seeing your dedication.

I went to link up but it doesn’t seem to recognize back links that are not directly in the actual post (vs a link list tab). I’ll try and fix that later this evening ~ hubby and last one home are complaining about being hungry, so I suppose that’s my cue!

  4. :0)…this fall will be our 16th year of having kids at home doing school. I am thankful to have a free cyber school option here in PA. My 2 boys enter 9th grade….HIGH SCHOOL (they are not twins but just 14 months apart. When we began home schooling them in kindergarten, it worked out nice to keep them in the same grade)

Our choice is technically public school at home. Since they are doing it at home, we can add topics as we like…bible study, creationist views, literature, etc. It makes for a nice balance.

I sometimes miss the way we used to home educate…unit studies, then a classical approach. But the more I think about it, the more I think I *miss* my kids being younger!

Hope you have an great school year! THREE? Must seem like half the school is missing…oh yeah! It is :0)!
