Joyful Noise

I’m sitting here listening to my 13 year old play guitar (he’s just learning), my 15 year old making up songs to the random, sometimes discordant strumming and all of my 3 younger sons giggling as they roll on the floor in laughter.

The sounds of music are often in my house. Any musical talent my children have comes from their dad’s side of the family. My talent is limited to playing the radio…and even then sometimes all I pick up is static!

I love listening to my children’s joyful noise! Some are more talented than others, but they are all ENERGETIC in their music!!! :D

I didn’t want my Thankful Thursday post to go unsaid. I’m thankful for music and for the heart to make music. I often think that God’s delight in our music is not in our ability, but in our heart. That’s why He told us to Make a Joyful Noise!

  1. Sounds like you’re enjoying listening to them. Mu husband is playing guitar and used to play the piano. When he’s in the good mood and have free time to play it, I enjoy just sitting quietly and listening to him. Sometimes he plays and sing some of my favorite songs and those are very special moments for me.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!

  2. I love to sing but don’t have a very good singing voice… I can make a joyful noise however – ‘noise’ being the operative word!!!

I’m sure God has a sense of humour and added the verse “make a joyful noise unto the Lord…” in the Psalms just for people like yours truly!

    Enjoyed your story :D
