With this very post, I’ve finished my second year of completing the Blogathon Challenge. And I’M SO VERY THANKFUL!! Since I’ve spent the last year blogging almost 5 days a week (most weeks Monday-Friday), you wouldn’t think one month of every single day would be so difficult.
WELL YOU’D BE WRONG!!
Things I learned this Blogathon:
- planning blogs in advance as much as possible is ESSENTIAL to being at all faithful with blogging
- sometimes a Post From The Past is an encouragement (even to me) rather than a cop-out
- being filled up with scripture REALLY gives food for writing
- sometimes life is just as fun to write (and read) about as any deep theological post
- vacationing and then being ill do NOT work well with consistency in a blog challenge
- I need to learn how to take decent pictures because Elizabeth (my built-in photographer) will be gone before I know it
- community within the blogosphere is very very encouraging
- a reminder that my #1 purpose for blogging is to encourage and minister to the hearts and lives of women
- although I would love to help with our family income by blogging, that is ENTIRELY up to God and I’m content to let it remain so
- it’s really hard to maintain my schedule for keeping my time blogging to 30-60 minutes a day and 2 hours on Sunday evening when you have to blog every day — 2 more days adds a lot more mental pressure
There you have it. Another year over and several more friends made. While it didn’t boost my daily stats at all this year, it was still lots of fun.

I couldn’t agree more with each one of those points. My favourite was: Being filled up with scripture REALLY gives food for writing.
Sometimes I think we forget the Scripture is a living thing, that it can and does speak to us today, right were we are. I also include the Gospel for the Morning Mass in my blog, finding in it that kernel that will inspire, help, and support other moms on their life journey of understanding, finding and recognizing those God moments in their life.
God bless
Yes, Patty, the scriptures bring such life and insight. Thanks so much for coming by.
Great lessons all. Hope you had fun, too. Congratulations!
Thanks Jackie…yes I did have fun. I love so much getting to know the folks who participate and reading their blogs (yours included!)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOU DID IT!!!!!
Your points were so good- I had been thinking of some of those very points. I want to be able to take pictures – and I want to plan a bit more regarding the posts.
Connie, I have to confess that there were a few days when I was wondering if I’d actually make it! Maybe we can encourage one another in our picture taking journey! 😉
Congrats!! That must have been tough!! I don’t think I could have done it, but you learned some valuable lessons through it and you were able to share that with others!!
Thanks Alecia. It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be but it WAS fun. There were a few posts that God just GAVE me an idea for them and they got written up in minutes! And then the Wordle post was REALLY fun!
Congrats. You are such a hard worker and an inspiration.
Alana, you are so sweet. Thanks. I only WISH I were that hard a worker!!
Kate…I’m in awe of you! What an accomplishment! I don’t know if I could do it myself but if God called me to it…I trust He would give me the strength and ideas, just as He did you. Thank you, sweet friend, for your blog which offers me much encouragement.
Naomi, thank you so much. There definitely were a couple of times when God just ZAPPED me with a post and it almost wrote itself! Those were so cool!! I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to know you through your blog and what a sweet friend you are! Thanks so much.
