Dutch Butter Squares

1 c butter, softened
1 c sugar
1 egg
2 c all purpose flour

Cream butter and gradually add sugar. Add egg, beat well. Gradually add flour, blending well (dough will be sticky).

Divide in 1/2. Place each portion in well-greased 8″ square pan and press evenly with floured hands.

Place pans in COLD oven. Bake at 350 for 20 min or untl lightly browned. Remove from oven and cut into 2″ squares. Remove and cool on wire racks.
