Day 1 of Giving Thanks

“O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” 1 Ch 16:34

When I stop and think about the Lord’s lovingkindness, tears ALWAYS spring to my eyes and I feel very ADD — I think about one thing and another pops into my head which reminds me of another and I just flit from thing to thing to thing related to the lovingkindness of the Lord.

Lovingkindness is not a word that we use in our vocabulary today. In fact, the spell checker on my computer (or is it in Worpress) doesn’t like it … well that’s OK, it doesn’t like WordPress either! What does it mean? Is it love or kindness? In fact it is translated many different ways:

  • mercy
  • kindness
  • lovingkindness
  • goodness
  • kindly
  • merciful
  • favor
  • good
  • goodliness
  • pity

Some of the verses in which this Hebrew word, checed, is used are just amazing. Just reading them all in a row will get your spirit soaring to the heavenlies!

Today, I’m so thankful for the lovingkindness of our God. In today’s verse the thanks is focused on the ETERNAL property of His lovingkindness. It never ends, it never fails, it endures forever. Now I don’t know about you, but THAT gets me psyched!!

I’ve  had friendships end, friends that I thought would be there for me always. Things happen, we hurt them or they hurt us and sometimes we just change too much for the friendship to withstand it. But NOTHING can stop the lovingkindness of God!!

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:35, 38-39

Father, I give You thanks for the ABUNDANT AND OVERFLOWING lovingkindness You shower onto Your children, and that it is everlasting…it has no end! That You love me at all is overwhelming, but knowing that there is NOTHING that I or anyone else can do to separate me from Your love brings me to my knees in gratitude and thankfulness. Praise Your Name, JEHOVAH-RAAH, Our Shepherd Who tenderly leads us, loves us and will keep us safe! Amen.
