“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” Titus 2:3-5
I am Kate and I love to share the things God has taught me these past 40+ years of walking with Him: the old and the new. Since we are all (hopefully) still growing in our walks with God, there are still new things He is showing us.
What I am not:
- I am not a naturally organized kind of gal. But, out of necessity, I have learned how to make order in our large family and to work efficiently and speedily.
- I am not an official expert on most things. But I have learned that expert is a relative term. Homeschooling for almost 30 years has taught me much. My love for learning and for teaching what I learn is lived out in my life daily.
- I am not a biblical scholar but I DO love Jesus and find great joy in sharing the insights and wisdom He reveals to me daily.
- I am not a SuperMom (as if she really existed anywhere anyway) – I am very aware of my limitations and have learned to function very well within those parameters.
What I am:
I am passionate about the man I married in 1984. He is a wonderful Godly man who is very analytical, can be a bit absent-minded when he’s concentrating on something, extremely intelligent and a great teacher. Kevin is the love of my life and is my greatest encouragement and support. Every day I am more blessed that he chose to marry me so many years ago.
I am passionate about my children; I have 8. I have been extremely blessed to have homeschooled all of our children from kindergarten on up, 6 of whom have graduated from high school already. Having them home with me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week has enabled me to really get to know them as people, their strengths and weaknesses, their joys and desires, as well as their fears and their struggles. It is my desire to be their biggest cheerleader as they seek to find and follow God’s best for their lives.
I am passionate to teach and train others what I have learned and to work to make other people more successful in whatever they touch. This finds expression in my services on this site as well as through the teachings on my blog.
I am passionate, most importantly of all, about God. My walk with Jesus has been a wonderful, albeit sometimes difficult but always challenging, adventure since 1976. He is my strength, my rock, my delight and my joy. Without Him I would be lost and adrift in a world of fear, guilt and shame. The freedom and joy He has brought me is greater than words can ever express.
I have a calling:
My heart and soul is centered in discipleship, with older women teaching younger women. I was discipled very intensely when I first came to Christ over 40 years ago. The women who built into my life passed on the spiritual heritage of pouring their lives into faithful women.
I have been discipling women for coming up to 4 decades and continue to grow and learn in my own walk with God. I grow most as I encourage and teach others. It is not just about teaching how to study the bible, but it is about learning how the bible speaks to EVERY aspect of our lives. It is about the life-giving power of the Word of God reaching deep into our hearts, minds and spirits to transform us into the image of Jesus. And continuing to pass on the heritage that was passed on to me, encouraging you to do the same! It also comes through in my opportunities to help develop the gifts and callings of others and by coming alongside of them for their own fruitfulness.
I am here to share the tidbits of my life: as a wife, mother, homeschooler, homemaker, discipler/mentor, and believer. I share what I’ve experienced and seen and learned over the years. I hope I can be of help and encouragement to you in your own personal needs. May the Lord open your eyes to always see and seek His truth and lead you to follow Him in your journey of life.
