A new year – a new focus. Health!

Well, yesterday was my birthday. As I’m creeping closer to the next century of life, I took stock of my health today and realized how desperately I need to refocus.

A glance back and a look forward toward health

Earlier this year I did a 60 Day Challenge which included eating Paleo and T-Tapping. And it was good for that period of time but after I was done, I DROPPED THE BALL! My goal was to continue with T-Tapping and eating sugar free. I had lost 11.6 pounds during those 60 days and, while I’ve kept them off, my health has deteriorated. My pain levels are much higher and my energy levels have tanked.

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health,
just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2

For the next month, I am keeping my overall health goals simple:

  • sugar free (meaning keeping all sugars to around 15 g daily)
  • T-Tapp daily (this makes all the difference in pain and range of motion)
  • vitamins daily
  • 64 oz minimum of water daily
  • 30-45 minutes in the Word each day

It all starts with spiritual health!

You may wonder what in the WORLD scripture time has to do with health. But for me, I need to keep my focus in the basics of the Word so that my head focuses on God’s best for my life and not on worldly desires. So I’m purposing to spend much more time in scripture – not in study, necessarily, but in devotional reading. I want to give the Spirit time and space to touch my spirit with the wealth of wisdom and truth in the Word.

If you are feeling like you’ve fallen off the health wagon and want to join me, please list YOUR 3-5 health goals below. I will be praying for you as I work through my own. Please note I am NOT thinking about weight loss. I’m working on HEALTH goals alone!

I am not sharing my menu this week, because I will be spending time today reworking eating for me as well as the family so that I can more easily adhere to my goals for April/May. But please check out my menu planning downloads for your own planning.

    A great reminder to persevere and the importance of God’s Word in our health endeavors relying on Him no matter the outcome.
    My health goals:
    1. Do my PT (physical therapy) 6 days a week to help heal my knees.
    2. Do ST (strength training) 3 days a week – upper body weights.
    3. Keep Food Journal every day.
    4. If the Lord allows my knees to heal, hopefully be able to start walking again and be able to move into my walk-run routine 3 days a week. (run 30 sec – walk 45 sec)
    5. Time in the Word and prayer.
    As I pray for myself and a couple of ladies from church in this same regard of health and fitness, I will pray for you too.
