For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. Gen 2:24
Marriage is such a serious and wonderful event. I’ve been blessed to be married to a wonderful godly man for almost 27 years. Not everyone is so blessed. I’ve had friends who have had very painful marriages, some ending in divorce. But I’ve also know many other couples with wonderful marriages, centered in the heart and will of God. Sure there are ups and downs, good times and bad, hurts and sorrows; but there is also a solid foundation undergirding even the rocky times. That foundation is Jesus.
This afternoon I was blessed to witness a delightful wedding of one of my dearest friends. The sweet and endearing choices of songs and poems and even the tribute to both of their first spouses (both of them having been widowed) was very charming, touching and outright fun!
I am so excited for my friend. I’m more excited still that Jesus is the very core and center of their relationship. I’m also excited that their heart and passion in their marriage will be a visible expression of the love of Jesus to those around them.
So today, two lives were joined together into one. God was honored and I was blessed to see His joy expressed in their love and their union. Thanks, Jesus! Congratulations my dear friend!
