Teaching What Is Good #145 {Blessed by my children}

The Haiti mission is finished – learning from my children.

A mission to Haiti is finished

Today is the day that my youngest daughter travels home from her time in Haiti. She’s been there for 3 months, working with orphans. It has been such a wonderful experience for her. She’s learned a great deal, seen God in bigger and deeper ways and has been able to love on these babies!

So many times we talk about how we teach and train our children. But it is seldom that we talk about how we learn from them. Many of my children have much bigger hearts than I have. In the flesh, I tend to be a self-centered person. I’m not a servant as my default and it isn’t easy for me to do it.

As my daughter returns today, I’m excited to hear what God has done in and through her. And I’m excited to see how God wants to teach ME through her!

What are some ways you have learned from your children?

  1. Hooray your dd is safely home! I have learned so much from our kids — order, patience, frugality, and kindness. I also am learning that as I watch them make their way in these crazy times, they know more about courage than I do!

    I love the pix of the little children in Haiti.

  2. Thank you for hosting yet again! I really appreciate what you said about our children teaching US. So many times I forget that I am just as teachable as my kiddos are (sometimes I need it more too!). My daughter who is almost 7 has taught me a lot about compassion and forgiveness. She has such a big heart. Thank you for reminding me that I need to allow myself to be taught.
