I saw a post on a news article last week and it made me think of all the special things from my children’s growing up years, things that might have been special and unique to our family. So I thought I’d share some of the fun special things that were memories for my children’s growing up years.

LOOM. How could I have forgotten LOOM?
Bekah was the one who remembered that on and picked the image that best represented her memory.
Unfortunately, my computers a mess and I can’t play any of the videos. This was a fun exercise though, Kate! Loved walking down memory lane.
Terri…thanks and sorry you couldn’t play the videos. We had so much fun listening to them over and over (every time a different child came into the room, we had to start afresh). I loved that you joined in the theme on your blog post!!
I love those childhood memories and boy did I have a lot of them…nice to sit back and remember those funny things we did and say…
Thanks Desiray, for joining us on our little road trip to the past!
I was smiling as I recognized a few of these.
Connie, isn’t it funny how that happens? The same thing happens to me when I see stuff like this on other blogs. Thanks for journeying with me this morning, dear!
oh wow! i remember a bunch of these from growing up!!!
I LOVED carmen sandiego and lamb chop! I’m 22 and have a family of my own but I STILL listen to adventures in odyssey!
I still love the Newsies too!
Great memories!!!
Thanks, Paula! You fit right in the middle of my older 4 — it’s funny how my older children have different memories from my younger 4, with some overlap. I LOVED Lamb Chop myself!! ;D
Hi Kate! Thank you for inviting me to link up once again. I’m sharing my post “A Shading Tree {A Mother’s Day Special}”.
Blessings,
Rina
Rina, thanks for joining us! I loved your post…such a lovely image!
Hi Kate!
I recognized some of these but I think most of them are right between my childhood and my kids’ babyhood!
Thanks so much for the invitation to link up—I appreciate the email reminder!
Have a lovely week!
Sarah
Well, Sarah, my children’s ages start at 25, so I think that is significantly older than your oldest! Glad you could link up today and again, congratulations!
Those brought back some memories for me! I loved Carmen San Diego and Raffi!
OH fun…glad they were good memories for you too. Carmen San Diego was such a good show and Raffi — just FUN! Thanks for stopping by and reminiscing with me.
This is a great idea for a post. And I like the way you link to your sources, too. Glad to have found you through the Blogathon!
Hi Sara! Thanks for the encouragement and for the visit. I really love your blog! I’ll be coming back, for sure!
Hi Miss Kate,
Our kids are about the same age so Bullfrogs, Mary Rice Hopkins, and Carmen San Diego are all very familiar. Super idea to post these clips.
Hugs to you dear mama,
j
Thanks, Jan. I thought you’d like this one!! ((hugs)) right back at you, dear!!
I hope its okay, I know that 2 posts are not usually allowed but I just had to do a 2nd because I just found this video that rocked my world. I just thought you might enjoy it too. It portrays the love of God in such a way, well you will know what I mean once you view it. My love for my husband, my children – my God – I have so much to learn ….

Lindsey, I don’t have a problem with linking up 2 different posts – sometimes during the week, you just have several that fit. And your link was so touching – I had to repost it on FB (and linked to your blog). Thanks for sharing it on your sweet blog post.
Thank you! I just knew you would enjoy it. I “liked” you on FB too
Kate – thank you so much for helping me walk down memory lane!! I loved Bullfrogs & Butterflies, Carmen Sandiego and the Newsies!! Ahhh…what sweet memories you brought back to me.
I also wanted you to know that I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award. Visit my post about it here: http://www.inallyoudo.net/2012/05/08/homeschool-series-going-from-1-to-3/
Blessings,
Annette
Okay, sorry that was the WRONG link! Here’s the right one!!!

Oh Annette, you are so sweet! Thank you so much. I’m so honored to be awarded and for your dear words. Thanks for enjoying my trip down memory lane!
I love Mary Rice Hopkins….
“Hip, hip, hip, hippopotamus…”
Oh, how much fun! Thanks for sharing all of these. I’ll have to share your blog with a friend who homeschools, too. I know she’d just love it.
Thanks, Joan! How sweet of you to share my blog with your friend.
We took our children to see her and Wendy??? (can’t think of the last name) at a live concert and it was so much fun to see her interact with all the children.
We had a tape of one of her live concerts…boy, you are so right! The children were like groupies, all down at the front! ;-D But they were doing all the motions to the songs, it was delightful!
I have nothing to link up, but what fun to see all the oldies we used with our children when they were young…they are now in their late 30′s.
Hi Gail…I’m glad you commented anyway because I’ve had so much fun reading the mom’s comments of how much they remember these things from their children’s lives! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did!
I so enjoyed your post! Talk about fun family memories! We LOVED Bullfrogs and Butterflies AND Barry McGuire – And I still sing patience to my grandkids now. I just this week tried to find an iPhone app for Carmen Sandiego for the grandkids, coz my kids loved it so much (none so far, sadly), and what fun my kids and I had at a live concert by Raffi! Would you believe I didn’t discover Mary Rice Hopkins til I had my oldest granddaughter. But we definitely appreciated her then! And the grandkids and I are currently enjoying Magic Schoolbus along with Wild Kratts and 3-2-1 Penguins on KUBO
Have you ever heard of GT and The Halo Express – they had several great albums of stories with Scripture songs back when my kids were young, but they are still available now and I got them all for my grandkids! Another great resource are all the stories of Down Gilead Lane. Think Father Knows Best – with a Christian message. I enjoy them as much as the grandkids
Thanks for such a fun visit and such delightful memories.!
Have a blessed week – and see you at Facebook too
.
Kaye, WHAT A DELIGHTFUL COMMENT! We’ve been pretty much sharing the same content with our children (and your grandchildren) all down the road. I’ve heard of Down Gilead Lane and GT and The Halo Express but that’s all. We don’t have TV (haven’t for 16 years) so there is a lot we miss these days, although we do rent videos (and love Veggie Tales and 3-2-1- Penguins.
Have a great day.
Glenys….we love the movie “Newsies” and, believe it or not, the past few days we have been singing along with the soundtrack in our car!! Hahaha! The Magic School Bus, Adventures in Odyssey (we still listen to these when traveling) and Where In the World is Carmen San Diego bring back wonderful memories. Did you all ever watch Wishbone? The dog who reenacted great literature books? My children loved him. Thank you for taking us down memory lane at WJIM.
)
Hey Naomi! I COMPLETELY believe it! Once a Newsies song gets into your head, it stays for a long time!! My kids watched it for a very short time because we ended up moving to a place with no TV reception. Glad you enjoyed the journey!!
Kate
I like the Magic School Bus! Thanks for linking up at Family Fun Friday! http://happyandblessedhome.com
Sincerely,
Monica
