Loving Our husbands

In our culture of husband-bashing, we even find this attitude creeping into the church and into the hearts and practices of women aspiring to walk faithfully with the Lord. My goal is to share encouragement on how we can love our husbands, perhaps even when it is difficult.

Titus 2:4 encourages the older women to teach the young women to love their husbands. We are not often admonished to love them in scripture. I think part of that is the fact that it actually is easy for us to love our husbands; it’s part of our design. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean we can get off scott free in the area of marriage!

Our biggest struggle is, not in loving, but in RESPECTING and honoring our husbands. Remember, part of the curse for Eve was that her desire would be “for her husband”. I’ve heard Hebrew scholars teach that this idom actually means that her desire would be to be over her husband, yet he would be ruling over her.

How often do we, as women, think, “Well, if only he would listen to me…”, “If he would only do it my way…”, “Why can’t he just…”  We always believe that WE know the best way to do something or the best thing to think about something. Sometimes we are right, but the self-righteous and martyred vibe we give off does NOTHING to show respect or honor to our husbands! Quite the opposite, in fact.

So, in the posts you will find here, my goal is to encourage us in the GODLY view of marriage and how to love and respect our husbands for the authority they are in our lives, as designed by the very heart and mind of God.
