Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate. Ps 127:3-5
I love my children and the relationship we have. Today, I fell down outside and couldn’t get up. I called my 13 year old on the cell phone and he was outside in a flash picking me up.
Here’s some things from my eldest daughter’s FB to show our love relationship:
- Today, Mom made up a country song title: “My Truck Burned Down in the Zombie Apocalypse.” When I asked how that happened, she explained that the zombies burned it down with torches. So apparently vampires are out to put away your garlic and zombies are out to torch your vehicles. Forget drinking blood and eating brains. Seriously, what monster movies has she been watching?
- (Playing Scattergories, the category is “Things you keep hidden”)
Mom: Garlic. For vampires.
Dad: What? Why would you want to hide it from them?
Mom: Because otherwise the vampires will put it away!
Dad: What vampire shows have YOU been watching? - So we’re in the middle of a fairly serious God-related discussion, and suddenly Mom says, “OK, everybody, watch this.” She puts a piece of toast in her mouth, and says (as she simultaneously does what she’s saying), “Chew. Chew. Chew. And then swallow.” Turns out she was celebrating the fact that she’s done with the juice fast she was doing and now she can eat solid food again. My family is awesome, but sometimes very confusing.
OK, so our family may not be your standard family, but we really have LOTS of fun!!!

Our children are a gift from God – Amen! I often think, “What have I ever done to receive such a gift?!” Our family has its own quirks, too, but we enjoy each other’s company and laugh a lot! Beautiful post on family!
Yours is not the only weird family! It’s nice to read about families that actually enjoy each others company!
AH! this sounds like what goes on around our house…especially when all the kids are home. I LOOOOVE it!
Sounds like a fun and wacky family to me!
